

Loyce Ann Starnes Burkhalter, 97, passed away in Maumelle, AR on December 22, 2024. She was born May 27, 1927. She is survived by her brother ; her five children, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and her precious Tika “Teacup” Johnson. As a girl growing up on the family dairy farm in Kansas, she learned to cook and sew, enjoyed riding horses and playing the piano and trombone. After high school, she worked as a stenographer at the Veterans Administration Hospitals in Leavenworth, KS and Fayetteville, AR. She managed Pike Plaza Fabrics in North Little Rock for 15 years. She married Frank Burkhalter on August 27, 1949 in Fayetteville, AR. He preceded her in death. She was very active in the United Methodist
Church. She was a founding member of the Branson, MO and the Orange Beach, AL United Methodist Churches. She served as a Girl Scout troop leader for ten years. She was involved in all aspects of the activities her children were in - church, school, choir, band, summer ball and scouting. She was happiest when she was with her family. She loved to laugh and pull pranks on her family. She enjoyed reading, fishing and eating chocolate! She loved the fine arts and performing arts – ballet, symphony, Broadway shows, and the opera. She was the most precious, loving, polite and generous soul. She left a loving memory on the hearts of everyone she met.
Loyce was laid to rest at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
