Margarette Theresia Bass, 93, of Russellville, left this life and traveled to her heavenly home to meet her Lord and Savior on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Russellville Nursing and Rehab. She was born October 6, 1931, the daughter of the late Henry L. Monday and Edith Jewell Monday. She was a member of Pottsville First Baptist Church.
Margarette married James Howard Bass on July 10, 1948, in Tacoma, Washington. She was a devoted Army wife and traveled the world with her husband and children. In 1969, they moved and made a home in North Little Rock where they attended Runyan Baptist Church. After her children were almost grown, Margarette decided to serve others by becoming a nurse. She became an LPN at Baptist School of Nursing and proceeded to RN school at Baptist also. Upon graduation, she worked in the Baptist Hospital system for 20 years until she retired.
Following her nursing retirement, she served as Church Secretary at Runyan Baptist Church until she moved to Pottsville in April 2001 to be near her children. After retirement, she travelled with sisters, children, and close friends to some of her favorite places, including Alaska, Hawaii, Savannah, Georgia, Washington State, and many other locations.
One of her greatest joys was to spend time with her family and love on her multitude of grandchildren. She spent a full life immersed in the Word of God and imparted the love of Jesus in her kind words and deeds. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Henry L. Monday, Jr., and Joseph Monday; sisters, June Veach, Patricia Boyle, and Ada Fancher; infant daughter, Margarett Ann Bass; loving husband, James H. Bass, Sr.; daughters-in-law, Jacqueline Bass and Jeanne Bass; and son-in-law, Jerry R. Akin.
She is survived by sons, James H. Bass, Jr. and wife Beverly, Henry D. Bass, and Michael D. Bass; daughters, Susie and husband Steve Olson, and Katherine E. and husband Tom Ridgeway; grandchildren, Stephanie and Christor Hanstrom, Lisa and Chad Gleaves, Amy and Julian Sims, Kimberly and Jon Haverstick, Amanda and Rico Recometa, Brandi Bass, Teri Bass, Mike Bass, Jr., Jeff Akin and Brandi, Laura and Niall Blasdell, Mary Ridgeway, and Sarah Olson; 18 great-grandchildren (and 1 on the way); 2 great-great grandchildren; and a large host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, February 7, at Pottsville First Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Huffman officiating with special presentation by the Arkansas Nurses Honor Guard. Private burial will follow in Rest Hills Cemetery in North Little Rock. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Griffin-Leggett Rest Hills of North Little Rock and Lemley Funeral Service of Atkins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her honor may be made to Pottsville First Baptist Church.
