Mary Elizabeth (McClanahan) Straw

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Carl E. Straw, her granddaughter Breanna Leigh Flowers, her sisters Marjorie and Dorcas, and her brother Dale.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Carla Flowers and son in law, Ron of North Little Rock, AR; her son, Cal Straw and daughter in law, Donna of Ward AR; four grandchildren, Shawn (Cherie) and Eric (Lauren) Flowers and Stephen and Alec Straw, and four great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Brady Flowers of McKinney TX, and Haleigh and Kennedy Flowers of Sherwood, AR.

Mary married Carl Straw in 1957. They resided in Kansas City MO for twenty eight years before moving to Sherwood AR. Her time in Kansas City saw the birth of her two children. As her children grew up Mary was very active in their school lives, being a room mother and participating in Blue Birds, Campfire Girls, and Cub Scouts. Once her children were in school she took a position in the school cafeteria and later at DST.

In her leisure time she enjoyed travel and fishing with family and friends. In 1985 she moved with the family to Sherwood where she became a full time housewife and grandmother.

She was a long time faithful member of First Christian Church of Sherwood, AR where she participated in the CWF group, assisted with the church food pantry and other special church events.

She will be remembered as a thoughtful person, gracious hostess, and generous woman who was a blessing to all around her.

Visitation will be at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 from 12:00p.m. to 1:00 p.m. with burial following at Rest Hills Memorial Park. A memorial service will be held at First Christian Church, 2803 E. Kiehl Ave., Sherwood, AR.
