

He loved racing early in his life. He started with Motor Cross and transitioned to race car driving. He went into business with his father at C&C motors.
Mike beat his addiction in 2004. He was a member of Narcotics Anonymous. His group was called Clean and Serene. He attended bible study and even led meeting at NA. Mike attended Kairos #22, May, 2007, at Tucker prison as a resident of the Unit. He was faithful in attending Kairos weekly small group meetings until his release. He returned as a volunteer on Kairos #32, September 2012.
Mike served on eight teams as a volunteer. He was the leader of the volunteers for Kairos #37, April, 2016.
He also was a major financial contributor to each Kairos weekend from the time he began serving in 2012. Mike was their most faithful volunteer. He always said "yes" to serving on teams and to being at the prison for the weekly small group meetings.
Mike truly was a follower of Christ. He always tried to do what he felt Christ would want him to do, even if it was personally uncomfortable. He was a man of few words, but his actions spoke volumes.
He was preceded in death by his father Cecil Ray Steinmetz, mother Lillian Mae “June” Steinmetz and sister Terri Steinmetz.
He is survived by his sister Robyn Steinmetz (Lisa Bomar), Aunts Wanda Windom and Betty Cathey, a niece Hailey Strawser (Chris) and a nephew Joseph Scott. Other survivors include Patti Steinmetz-Shaddon, nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be held at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills in North Little Rock, Thursday October 25, 6-8 pm. A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held at 2 pm Friday October 26, also at Rest Hills.
