Shirley Mitchell, 72, of Jacksonville, AR was called to her heavenly home on Friday, February 11, 2022. She was born on May 25, 1949 to Viola and Arley Cox, in Monette, Arkansas. She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister Evelyn Bowen, a brother Arley Cox Jr, her husband George (Sonny) Mitchell, Sr., and her son George Mitchell Jr.
Shirley is survived by her daughters Shannon Brewer of Sherwood, AR, and Karen Bragg (Jerry) of Bryant, AR, 7 grandchildren, Jessica Ferren (Floyd) of Searcy, AR, Justin Mitchell (Peyton) of Jacksonville, AR, Kelly St John of North Little Rock, AR, Shelby Price (Taryn) of Sherwood, AR, Dylan Price (Ashari) of Sherwood, AR, Stephanie Woodbury of Benton, AR, and Jason Bragg (Jessica) of Benton, AR, 2 sisters, Grace King of Des Arc, AR, and Sena Hance of Jacksonville, AR, 14 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and 2 special people in her life Tonya Hendrickson and Samantha Ballard.
Shirley loved tending to her beautiful flower beds, trying her luck at the casinos, talking for hours on the phone to anyone who called, taking care of her dog Lucky, but above all spending time with those she loved most. Shirley was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at The Crossing at Riverside in Searcy for all the wonderful care they did for Shirley and loving her as their own grandma, and also to Arkansas Hospice for showing such compassion to her and the family during her final days.
Visitation will be Tuesday February 15, 2022 at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home in North Little Rock, AR from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday February 16, 2022 at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. Graveside services to follow afterwards in Rest Hills Memorial Park.
