Sueko K Thornton

Sueko was a member of Runyan First Baptist Church in Sherwood, Arkansas, where she enjoyed helping with Vacation Bible School serving refreshments for the children.

Sueko married David Neal Thornton, Sr. on January 10, 1955 in Tokyo, Japan. She was a devoted Air Force wife and traveled with her husband and children where ever the Air Force sent them. In 1974 they made North Little Rock, Arkansas their home.

She was an avid golfer and enjoyed participating for many years in the senior leagues at Burns Park Golf Course, (North Little Rock), Deer Run Golf Course (LRAFB), and Foxwood Country Club (Jacksonville). She found great joy in the sport.

Sueko is predeceased by her loving husband of 40 years, David Neal Thornton, Sr.; her parents, two brothers and one sister of Japan.

She is survived by her 3 children. Barbara Ann Holt (Rick) of Sherwood, AR; David N Thornton, Jr. of Conway, AR; and James Edward Thornton (Gracie) of Beaumont, TX.

Seven grandchildren, Justin Ledbetter (Megan), Matthew Kyle Holt (Jen); Tara Ann Sueko Holt; Anthony Thornton (Vanessa); James Thornton; Victor Andrew Thornton and Isabel Alexis Thornton.

Six great grandchildren, Yoshi, Bentlee, Zinnia, Violet, Kameron, Kayleigh and Charlie.

The family would like to thank the staff of Lakewood Health and Rehab and Springhill Baptist Hospital for their love, care and support during our mother’s stay there.

A visitation for Sueko will be held Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; immediately following will be a celebration of life from 12:00 noon until 1:00p.m. A private burial will be held afterwards at Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Rd, NLR, AR
