My deepest condolences to Gary and Antolin’s surviving sisters, especially his oldest sister, Maria Elena, who is my sister in law.
I met Antolin at St. Mary’s school shortly after I arrived from Cuba and my memories are linked to riding in Maria’s station wagon to and from school, together with other kids!
The years passed but since Maria Elena is my sister in law, luckily I remained  part of Antolin’s loving and caring family throughout the years.  
Antolin will surely be missed and will always be remembered for his kindness,  wisdom and knowledge.  May he rest in peace.

Querido Antolín, vuela alto . Hoy me enteré de tu prematura partida, Me acuerdo mucho de todas las  ocasiones que tomábamos excursiones en Cuba, y Puerto Rico con Tío Armando, las veces que nos quedamos en tu casa cuando veníamos de visita de nueva york, los domingos que íbamos a comprar  pastelitos con abuelo Federico, la vez que me mude de Puerto Rico y me quede en tu casa mientras buscaba trabajo, la vez que me comi un dulce por la madrugada hecho por tía Elena. En fin te vamos a extrañar mucho . Siempre tendré un lugar muy especial en mis recuerdos y en mi corazón. Descansa en paz.  Tu primo hermano Ernestico, 7/16/24.

Dear Gary, I am very saddened to hear of Antolin's passing. My deepest condolences, words are not enough to express my sadness and regret. Antolin was a very special person, and I had the distinct pleasure of working with him for many years and in attending classes with him for the master's degree at FIU. He was extremely intelligent, a great writer, and just a pleasure to be around. I loved his stories and the way he wrote brought immediate images of what he was describing in my mind. He knew how to bring a story to life. He had a great sense of humor, and I loved speaking with him about local and Cuban history. He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. I had been trying for a while to set up a lunch with other MDAD co-workers as we did yearly before covid hit. Unfortunately, I was not successful. If there is anything I can do for you and the family, please let me know. Unfortunately, I am currently out of town and cannot attend the service but know that I will be there in spirit. I will reach out upon my return. May Antolin rest in peace for eternity. I pray that God blesses you with the strength to deal with this very painful event and that your faith remains strong.

Yesterday, I wrote a memory, what I thought about my wonderful Antolin. Today. I want to express my deepest sympathy for his loss, knowing that you will rejoice in the beautiful memories he is leaving behind.

Whenever I was having bad insomnia, I could count on Antolin to be there for me.  Sometimes I would show up at the house in Belle Meade just before sunrise and both him and Gary would let me in and have conversations over coffee.   I will forever be grateful for the help he gave me to make rough nights into better mornings .  Sometimes short walks after breakfast made the difference, enough to be able to get back to my apartment and get rest.  I hope to see Antolin again on the other side.

Antolin will always have a very special place in my life.  He had an encyclopedic mind with a pragmatic approach to life and living, and his heart was open to everyone who came into his orbit. His ability to love members of his immediate and extended family, as well as his circle of friends, touched everyone.
I'm honored to be a distant cousin who has a very close loving connection with him. This connection will always be alive.

Gary, please  accept my deepest condolences. I am so saddened by Anto's passing. 

Anto was a truly remarkable person who made a significant impact on my life. I  admired so many of his qualities - intellect, compassion, and cultural pride. 

I am grateful to have had him as an uncle and role model. He was someone who not only inspired me but also made me feel supported. 

I remember the closeness  and happiness I felt on the day we went kayaking together. I was a bit timid about the water but he made me feel safe. 

Another unforgettable experience he created was giving me and my cousins (as children) a behind-the-scenes tour of the MIA airport, meeting the firefighters and exploring an airplane, it was just amazing. 

He showed that his profession was an opportunity to make a positive impact on the people he cared about.

I will hold on to these memories and many more , which will continue to bring a smile to my  heart.

Antolin was a kind, caring, smart, and wonderful man. He always had something interesting to share, from stories to his delicious plantains. Family gatherings will never be the same without him.
We will miss you and hold you in our hearts forever.

Dear Gary and family- I'm so deeply sorry for your loss.   I wish you peace and comfort as you grieve.

Antolin touched so many lives in the very best way.   He was a wonderful and caring person.

So sorry for your loss Gary.  I was just thinking of Antolin the day before. I was just across the street from where I visited you at the studio. Truly an honor to have worked with in and known him
