1935 – 2025
Armando Franco passed away on July 15, 2025, at the age of 89, born on November 4, 1935. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Rosa Franco, who passed away in 2011. He is survived by his three children: Judith Franco (Feldman), Regina Franco (Goldgof) and Julio Franco. He is also survived by his seven cherished grandchildren: David, Joe, Rebecca, Jackie, Alexandra, Ben, and Jessica with whom he loved to spend time.
In 1967, Armando courageously left communist Cuba with Rosa, their three young children, and his father, seeking freedom and a better life in the United States. With an advanced degree in Chemistry from the University of Havana, he initially worked as a chemist before transitioning to the business side of the field to better provide for his family. Through hard work, determination, and a sharp mind, Armando attained a successful career, establishing roots in the New York metropolitan area. As a lifelong learner and avid traveler, Armando traveled the world for both business and pleasure, usually accompanied by his wife.
After retiring early, he and Rosa settled in Bal Harbour, Florida, where they became active members of their Cuban/Jewish community and of Temple Moses in Miami Beach. Armando became the President of the American Sephardi Federation’s South Florida chapter, leading efforts to promote Sephardic education and preserve Sephardic customs and traditions. In retirement, he learned conversational Hebrew which he used during repeated trips to Israel. He continued to expand his financial and investment knowledge, advising family and friends. Armando was well read, especially in history, and was known for his keen intellect, insightful perspectives, and thoughtful advice. He brought wisdom, humor, and vast experience to every conversation, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Above all, Armando (like Rosa) will be remembered for his love and support for his family and for the many close and long-lasting friendships that he had throughout his life. His legacy lives on in the values he instilled, the lessons he taught, and the lives he touched.
He will be deeply missed.
