Faye Redlich

Faye Samuels Redlich passed away peacefully on September 10, 2025. Born on January 17, 1942, in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late Sam and Ida Samuels, Faye was the beloved wife of 59 years of Leonard Redlich. She was preceded in death by her sister, Myrna Blower. Faye is survived by her husband Leonard, her loving children, Stephen Redlich (Kim), Beth Redlich (Howard Widra) and David Redlich (Karen), and nine cherished grandchildren, Samantha, Rebecca and Melissa Redlich; Nikki, Julie and Dani Widra; and Alexa, Ethan and Avery Redlich, who all adored their grandmother and brought her immense pride and joy. Faye also will be forever remembered by her nieces (Carol Redlich and Anne Redlich), nephews (Harry Redlich and Brad Blower) and extended family and dear friends.

After graduating from Peabody High School in Pittsburgh, PA, Faye attended art school and then worked in Pittsburgh at an office design studio. While on a cruise with friends, Faye met Leonard’s Uncle Norman, who thought she would be the perfect match for his nephew. Faye and Leonard spent the next 59 years holding hands, amazed and grateful for their good fortune.

Faye and Leonard were married on December 5, 1965, moved to Greensburg, PA, and started a family. Faye loved traveling with her husband around the country and the world. The two spent many a night, alone or with friends, sailing every nook and cranny of the Chesapeake Bay (Annapolis became their second home) or cross country skiing throughout Western PA. In addition to being a wonderful mother, Faye was an accomplished cook, painter, quilter and ceramist. She taught cooking classes at Seton Hill College and could always be found in the kitchen at Congregation Emanuel Israel in Greensburg. She was known for her delicious poppy seed cookies, which she often delivered to lucky recipients in tin containers that she decorated herself, and her famous challah, about which she patiently fielded calls from her grandchildren regarding kneading, baking and braiding techniques.

In 1986, Faye and Leonard moved to South Florida and started a new chapter. Here, Faye spent many a day at her local Aventura ceramic studio and later attended classes at the Boca Raton Museum Art School. Her artwork – paintings in both oil and watercolor, ceramic pieces (mezuzahs, framed mirrors, bowls, platters, etc.), and quilts of all sizes – can be found not only throughout her home, but also spread among the houses and apartments of appreciative family and friends. Each object includes her signature “Samuels.”

Although Faye lived in South Florida for almost 40 years, she was always looking to meet “yinz” with a Pittsburgh connection – and watching and rooting for her beloved “Stillers.”

A funeral service will be held at Lakeside Memorial Park and Funeral Home in Miami, FL, on September 14, 2025 at 11:00am. The family will observe shiva at the home of David and Karen Redlich from 1:00pm to 6:00pm following the service. Friends and loved ones are welcome to visit and share memories.
