Harvey Walter Brookman

Harvey Walter Brookman, age 80, of Margate, Florida passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021. Harvey was born March 20, 1941. Dr. Harvey W. Brookman passed away on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2021 in Margate, Florida, surrounded by his family. He was 80 years old. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Harvey was a long-time resident of Yardley, Pennsylvania, prior to retirement in Florida. Son of the late Herman and Sandy Brookman, he is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rosalind; his three sons, Seth, Russell and Robert; his daughter, Samantha; his daughter-in-law, Kristina; and his grandchild, Ryan.

Harvey graduated from Lafayette High School in Brooklyn where he was a city handball champion and earned the award granted to the City of New York's most accomplished math student. He attended Brooklyn College and received his Bachelor and Master degrees. Incredibly, he taught himself Italian while attending medical school at the University of Bologna in Italy, and earned his degree as a Medical Doctor. He went on to practice medicine and to meet, court and marry the love of his life, Rosalind.

As an OB-GYN, Harvey delivered thousands of healthy infants, though his greatest joy was delivering his own children. He was a loving father who, more than anything, adored his family, and his family adored him. His interests included theatre, show-tunes, chess, history and sports - particularly his beloved Brooklyn Dodgers, which he recalled fondly long after the team moved to Los Angeles.

Harvey's greatest joy was ensuring the happiness of others. He did so through his incredible sense of humor, quick wit and beautiful singing voice. He was a selfless, kind, humble and loyal man. All who truly knew him, loved him. His family and friends will never forget Harvey, and will always cherish his memory.

Services and burial will be held at Sharon Gardens Cemetery in Westchester County, New York, on Sunday, November 14th at 1:00 p.m. EST, followed by a luncheon to celebrate Harvey's life.

In lieu of flowers, Harvey's family requests that donations be made in his name to either of Harvey's favorite charities: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or to the American Society for Yad Vashem to support Holocaust education and remembrance.
