Louise was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 9, 1934 to parents Bertha and Nathan Morgen. She raised her three children in Cocoa Beach, Florida with her former husband Deems Taylor. She taught social studies and humanities at Cocoa Beach High School and was well known to have former students visit her at home well after they had graduated.
Continuing her love of education, Louise was elected to the Brevard County School Board. After serving on the School Board, she served as the lobbyist for the Florida Educators Association. Louise expanded her interests into the world of politics. One particular role of which she was very proud was as campaign manager for the state of Florida during the 1976 presidential bid of Governor Milton Schapp. Upon moving to the Seattle area, Louise served as a legislative aide to Washington State Senator Al Williams.
Louise maintained close ties with her classmates at Miami Beach High School and served on several reunion committees for the class of 1952. She retired to Aventura, living out the remainder of her life caring for her mother, reading avidly (with a particular passion for mysteries), and continuing an active interest in politics.
Louise is survived by her brother Leonard (Arline) Morgen, daughter Gayl (Gary) Struletz of Roswell, Georgia, son Wayne (Nora) Taylor of Roswell, Georgia, son Steve Taylor of Pasadena, California, grandchildren Jessica (Jon) Storer, Joshua, Jason, Andrew, and Ashley Struletz, Adam Taylor, Marissa (Dan) Hemy, great-grandchildren Aiden and Finley Storer, and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Louise’s memory to Hadassah (www.hadassah.org) or the American Jewish Committee (www.global.ajc.org).
