Adina Anderson was born in the District of Banbury, Jamaica on June 10, 1929. Adina was the third child of the late Lucey Taylor and Josiah Douglas. She attended Linstead All-Age School in the parish of Saint Catherine. In the 1960’s Adina migrated from Jamaica to the United States, where she worked at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Pennsylvania as a dietary coordinator for 22 years. Upon her retirement Adina provided childcare services to local families within her community. In 1975 she became a member of Our Mother of Good Counsel in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. After relocating to Orlando, Florida in 2008, she transferred her membership to St. John Vianney Catholic Church.
Adina married Wendell Anderson on January 5th, 1969. Together they raised their three children Lavern, Delroy and Derrick. Adina was a very nurturing and loving person and because of this love she assisted in raising her grandson Newton Anderson and granddaughter Zulehka Mattis in Haverford, Pennsylvania. After the passing of her husband in 2005 she relocated to Orlando, Florida where she resided with her son Delroy Anderson. During her free time Adina enjoyed her love for gardening, singing, knitting, and purchasing unique hats. In 2018 she made Miami, Florida her permanent residence while in the care of her daughter Lavern Mattis.
On Sunday, May 22, 2022, our loving, Heavenly Father called Adina from earth to her eternal home in Heaven. MATTHEW 11:28-30
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
