Emma Scott was the daughter of Ellabell Randolph and J.D. Grant who preceded her in death. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness, strength, and warmth touched the lives of all who knew her. She was also preceded in death by her son Luvanus Scott.
Emma was born and raised in Liberty City, Florida and as a young adult purchased her beautiful home in Miami Gardens, Florida. She worked for Dade County School Board for over 35 years. She was a pillar and a force to be reckoned with in her community, always ready with an open heart and helping hands. She cherished time with her family and found joy in simple moments—whether sharing stories around the kitchen table, tending to her flower beds, or offering words of wisdom and encouragement to those in need.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and compassion. Emma is survived by her daughters Vera Scott Bush (Nate) and Dione L. Breland; her son Randy Scott, grandson Kenny L. Scott (India), granddaughter, Racheal M. Bush Wilmore (Rodney), great-grandchild Kenny C. Scott, brothers, Roosevelt Randolph, Edward Lee Grant, and Jerome Bennett, and sister in laws Earlene Collins and Edith Robinson. In addition, a special devoted friend Karen King and a very faithful church friend Mrs. S. Robinson and a host of other family and friends who will forever cherish her memory and strive to honor her by living with the same grace and generosity she exemplified.
Though she is no longer with us in body, Emma’s love and light will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
In Loving Memory of Emma Jean Scott
Emma was a woman full of spirit, wisdom, and love. She had a fiery attitude that made her unforgettable and a comforting presence that could brighten even the darkest days. No matter what challenges life brought, her inspiring words had a way of making things better.
One of the things that will be deeply missed is her heartfelt birthday songs every year. No matter what, she always made sure to celebrate with love. Though she was tough, she raised me to be a strong, resilient woman and for that, I will always admire her.
Her favorite phrase, which she reminded me of often, was “Don’t let nobody steal your joy.” Her words and spirit will live on in my heart forever.
She was truly one of a kind and her love and strength will never be forgotten.
Love you forever!
Poem
I’m Free
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free
I’m following the path God laid for me
I took his hand when I heard Him call
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day.
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I found that peace at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it up with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Oh, yes these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I savored much.
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free!
