Tim met his future wife, Joyce Elsasser, in 1958, while attending The Ohio State University. They both graduated from OSU on June 9, 1961, and were married the next day. He earned a degree in Electrical Engineering and began his career with General Telephone Company in Northlake, IL, where he was awarded four U.S. patents in the design of military and commercial telecommunications systems. He later joined Siemens Telecommunications Systems in Boca Raton, FL, in 1978 and remained there until his retirement in 1999. Tim was a member of First Presbyterian Church in North Palm Beach and served on congregational governing boards at Presbyterian and Methodist churches for many years. He was very proud of his family. While his children were young, he participated with them in the YMCA Indian Guides and Princesses programs, little league baseball and later with the Boy Scouts of America. Throughout his life, Tim enjoyed golf and many spectator sports and remained a steadfast fan of the OSU Buckeyes. He and Joyce were able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary during his illness.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Huldah S. and Alfred G. (Ted) Cochran, and sister, Carol A. Cochran. He is survived by his wife and children, Kenneth G. Cochran of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Deborah L. Cochran of Belmont, NC, as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews, plus many members of his in-law family.
Mr. Cochran and his family wish to thank all those medical personnel who touched his life, especially during his last 4 years of confronting cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m., Friday, August 3rd, at First Presbyterian Church in North Palm Beach. Graveside services will be held in Columbus, OH.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to First Presbyterian Church in North Palm Beach or “Doctors without Borders” would be appreciated.
