Corinne "Mickey" Cavlovic of Cleveland, Ohio and North Palm Beach, Florida died on March 10, 2024.
She was born on February 6, 1936, into the heritage and tradition of the Little Italy neighborhood in Cleveland. She was a cherished wife, a devoted mother and grandmother and a friend to many in the Cleveland, Hudson, Ohio and North Palm Beach communities.
Her legacy is a rich story of love and faith, beginning with a fateful encounter on an elevator in Chicago, where she met the love of her life, Frederick F. Cavlovic. Their love story unfolded with unwavering devotion and mutual adoration. Fred's affection for Mickey was evident until his last breath, as he professed his love for her, an enduring testament to their bond.
Together, Mickey and Fred shared a life filled with love, family, and shared passions. They enjoyed bowling, golfing, and dancing together, reveling in each other's company and building cherished memories. She treasured her Italian roots, filling her home with the aromas of cavatelli and pizzelle, and equally embraced her husband's Slovenian heritage, mastering the art of potica and Slovenian soup dumplings. These traditions and recipes continue to be embraced and celebrated by her children and grandchildren today.
They had an unwavering Christian faith and commitment to community through their service for Catholic communities and the local Knights of Columbus chapters. Her commitment to spreading peace and kindness was evident in her volunteer work with organizations like the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and teaching CCD classes. She touched the lives of many through her dedication to helping elementary school children learn to read.
As a mother, Mickey was the epitome of strength, wisdom, and love raising four children. The Cavlovic home was always a welcoming haven where friends and loved ones were embraced as family. They welcomed foreign exchange students and interns from places around the world including France, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico.
Mickey's journey was not without risks and life’s challenges, yet she faced them with unparalleled courage and resilience. She ventured into the world of entrepreneurship long before it was trendy, opening a coffee shop that became a beloved spot for freshly ground coffee. As a cancer survivor of 18 years, she exemplified strength and endurance, inspiring all who knew her with her unwavering determination and love for life.
Mickey leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion that will forever be cherished by those who survive her: her children, Cheryl Klaft, Fred Cavlovic, Kaye Hosack & Loren Hosack, and Therese Cavlovic; ten grandchildren, Tara Webb, Ian Hosack, Jared Cavlovic, Katie Klaft, Jordan Cavlovic, Clare Gambee, Kayla Hutchinson, Rebecca Klaft, Julien Grijalva, and Aliyah Grijalva; and eight great grandchildren.
In eternity, she joins her husband, Fred Cavlovic, granddaughter, Kimbra Cavlovic, and mother, Corinne Roth. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were touched by her love and light. In the words of the song she held dear, "Let there be peace on earth," Mickey's prayer for world peace will continue to resonate, a reminder of her enduring legacy of kindness and goodwill. May she rest in eternal peace, knowing that her love will live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
A Memorial Service for Corinne will take place Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 11AM at St Clare's Catholic Church, 821 Prosperity Farms Rd, North Palm Beach FL.
