

Eric was born in Fall River, Massachusetts. Early in childhood, the family moved to Setauket, New York on Long Island. Eric graduated from Port Jefferson High School and attended Rider College in New Jersey where he graduated with a degree in accounting. He found interest in education and changed careers, dedicating the next thirty-five years to Elementary Special Education Teaching. During his tenure, he was a chapter coordinator for CHADD of Suffolk County and received a teacher of the year award from his district. Eric received the 2014 CHADD Volunteer Leadership Award. After his retirement and relocation to Florida, Eric co-founded and was chapter leader for Southeast Florida CHADD.
Eric had a love of facts, research, finance, sports, and mythology. He was an avid Indianapolis 500, Grand Prix Racing, Polo, Professional Tennis, NFL, and Golf fan.
He loved swinging the club at Jupiter Dunes, playing Monopoly, Risk and Poker. Belles could always expect a music playlist at Trivia Night. Eric ran a movie club in his community, was social guy always prepared with a question.
Eric is survived by his sisters Kim DiGiovanni (Joseph DiGiovanni), Chris Birben, and nephew Bektas Birben.
A service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 10:00am to 1:30pm at (Dignity Memorial) Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 754 US Hwy 1, North Palm Beach, Florida 33408.
Interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park,19351 SE County Line Road, Tequesta, Florida 33469 at 2:00pm
