
With heavy hearts, the family announces that G. Michael Keenan, age 61, passed away on Monday, May 30, 2016, surrounded by his family. Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Michael was educated at Georgetown University, undergrad, and received his law degree at George Mason University School of Law. After moving to Florida, Michael opened his own law firm. He was highly regarded in the legal community as the “lawyer’s lawyer.”
Since 1989, Michael was a Friend of Bill W. whose passion was to help suffering alcoholics find sobriety. Michael served faithfully as the longtime Chairman of the Board of The Hanley Center and was currently serving on the Board of The Hanley Center Foundation. Michael’s goal in life was to always give back whenever he could.
Michael leaves his beloved wife of 20 years, Judith Cleary; his adoring mother, Ann Keenan; loving children, Kevin (Claire) Keenan, Caitlin (Nathan) Fabian, Nicolas (Lori) Cleary and granddaughter, Olive Cleary; his brother, Timothy (Trish) Keenan and their family; and sister-in-law, Peggy Lashley (Roger Scott) and their family .
Michael will be long remembered as an amazing father and husband and as a friend to many. All who had the pleasure of knowing him loved his humor and his joy of life, as well as his steadfastness and generosity of spirit.
Friends may gather on Sunday, June 5 from 11:00am-12:00pm with a memorial service to begin at 12:00pm at Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Hanley Center Foundation at 900 54th Street, West Palm Beach, Florida 33407.
