Of North Palm Beach, Florida passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021 following a yearlong battle with lung cancer. Jan was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 4, 1954. She graduated from Palm Beach Gardens High School in 1972 and received her Bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic University. Jan worked as an educator for Palm Beach County Schools for 29 years.
Jan is survived by her loving husband Brad Powers, they were married for 45 amazing years. She is also survived by her loving daughters Cristy Johnson and her husband Russ, Cari Simanski and her husband Scott. Also survived by her three grandsons Peyton and Ethan Johnson, and Benjamin Simanski. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elaine Higgins and her brother Michael Higgins. She is also survived by many family members and friends she made over the years. Jan lived a beautiful life and touched many people. She will be dearly missed.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 3-5 PM with a prayer service at Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral and Event Center, 754 US Highway 1, North Palm Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society https://donate3.cancer.org.
