Leslie Lane “Les” Kozlow 5/17/1949 – 6/27/2020

Les lost his battle on June 27, 2020 after a motorcycle accident. He lived an active and meaningful life. Truly a thrill seeker he rode motorcycles for 40 years, snow skied, scuba diver, ice diver, hunter, nationally ranked shooter, artist, bungee jumped, and loved fishing. He was a fantastic chef, wine connoisseur and loved to entertain family and friends.

Les was a teacher and mentor at heart with a PHD degree. He started working in Milwaukee moving to Florida in 1985. He mentored many students over his career and continued to hear from them over the years on their successes.

He met his soulmate and wife, Barb in 1989 where they continued their love story until his last breath. His favorite saying and what he lived by was “A Happy Wife is a Happy Life”.

Les is survived by his wife, Barb Kozlow, Goddaughter Chelsea Ball, Brother Michael Kozlow (Pam Kozlow) Niece, Dr. Wende Kozlow (Adam Gersh) great nieces Madeline and Molly, Niece Danielle Stephenson (Todd Stephenson) great nephew Jack and great niece Ella and numerous family and friends.

Les stepped into the role of Father to Tom Cassidy Jr. after the passing of his best friend Tom Cassidy Sr. Les and Barb became “Grandpa Les and Gigi” to Tom and Amanda’s sons, Thomas Baker Cassidy the 3rd and Isaac James Cassidy.

Les left us too soon with too many adventures ahead but is now finding new adventures in a whole new universe, after leaving his indelible mark and legacy here on earth.

Les would not want us to mourn and would want us to be happy for the times we had together.

A Celebration of Les’ life will be held at a date to be determined later.

In lieu of flowers, Les would be pleased if you would do something kind for someone in need in his name.

Leslie was my great uncle, better known as “Uncle Les”. I didn’t become close with him until just a few years ago, I came to visit with my mother and was able to spend time with Les and Barb. I will forever cherish that time I spent in Florida, Les always knew how to put a smile on someone’s face and could brighten their day. Love you Les, from your almost honorary granddaughter.

I met Les back in 1982 as a student at Custer High School in Milwaukee. I took his Ceramics class and he was a joy to be around -always a friendly smile and some kind or encouraging words.
We reconnected through Facebook quite a while back and I was able to share a photo of him and I back when I was his student.
Les, you are greatly missed and will never be forgotten. My deepest condolences to his beautiful wife and family.

Love, Christine Hauber

I have a lot of fond memories of Mr. Koslow as my Art Teacher at Custer High School in Milwaukee. He was on of my favorite and nice looking Teachers. He enjoyed teaching and being with his Students. It showed. His family has my condolences. God Bless!

There are not too many people, save my Dad,Mom and Sister, that I have known and loved longer than Les.I met Les when I was 4 and my earliest memories were of Les driving up to our house in Milwaukee in his Fiero to put on a magic show for my sister and I because we were sick, sailing the great lakes with my Dad (Mom,Sara and I would meet them for a week or two), playing UNO (Les enjoyed playing the “Draw 4” card on me),eating apples (non-bruised ones) in the cockpit of Moonstar(sailboat),wearing our custom designed sweatshirts,Les saving my sister,Sara, when she fell into the water while attempting to board, listening to my Dad and Les’s stories, bareboat chartered a sailboat down in the Virgin Islands, most importantly always feeling very safe, protected and secure with Les and my parents around. As I grew up Les remained significantly in my life and we (Dad,Les,I) had additional adventures which included deer hunting in central WI,fishing trips, hockey tournaments in WI&FL, seafood boils,GB Packers Games, Xmas&NYE.Les met his soulmate Barb and into our lives came Barb (awesome complement to Les).Tragically in Oct 2009 my Dad passed away and Les was right there to Step Up and take over as my Father!Les was always there to chat about whatever we wanted/needed to discuss. Most importantly he absolutely kept me the right path through advice and a damn good logical perspective.Amanda and I both enjoyed being with Les&Barb whether it was in FL,DC,Slinger (never mattered).Les graduated from Father to Grandfather when my 2 boys were born and they loved Grandpa Les.Les enjoyed reading, playing baseball, watching Thomas ice skate and cooking for them.Personally,I feel very blessed and fortunate to have known Les for essentially my whole life.Do I wish he was still with us?Absolutely! The influence he had on Amanda,Thomas,Isaac,my life is something that no one can take away.I am a better person, husband, father, brother, son because of Les.Les Kozlow will always be alive in my life! RIP Les!

We have known Les and Barb for many, many years so there are lots of great memories. We spent many a Spring Break skiing in Utah. Les's goal each morning was to see how long it took him to get me to give him the finger! In 2011, the 4 of us did the Alaska cruise, which was awesome. Les and Barb were a big part of my "village" when Glenn was sick and after he passed. I am certain that Les and Glenn are now together planning some sort mischief in Heaven. Les was definitely a "larger than life" kind of guy and we will miss him.

I met Koz in1977 At Custer. I wanted to take ceramics but I had to take art foundations first. When I saw Koz I thought what cool dude! Man was that a fun class! By the next day we connected. He was such a pleasure to be around! I took his class the next year too! When I graduated Koz came to my family dinner! We kept in touch before he moved to Florida. I’ll be honest I thought of Koz often and wondered how he’s doing. My wife Kathy found him on Facebook and we reconnected! It was great talking to him! He and Barb surprised me and came up to Tucson for my birthday! Man that was great! What didn’t say hear is that I graduated high school because of him! I was ready to drop out . He wouldn’t let happen! For those who have fortunate enough to have met Koz you know what I mean. He was a big part of my life and I will forever grateful!
Koz we will meet again buddy! I love you!

You were truly one of the favorite people in my life! The love and life that you and Barb shared was nothing less than a fairy tale. I don’t know if I’ve ever witnessed anything that compares or that I ever will.
My heart smiles when I think of all of the happy times we’ve shared. Graduations, weddings, reunions to name a few.
You were always there for me when I needed you most. You were a special influence on all three of my children in their times of need and in their celebrations. Thank you for that from the bottom of my heart. We will miss you.
The memories we created and shared together as family will live on in our hearts forever. I love you, Les. As you already know, we will take care of Barb, until you meet again. RIP. ❤️

Met Barb and Les in 2019 when they joined the HOG Group in WPB, my fellow Trike riders. Les always had a big smile his face and his friendship to all of us will never be forgotten. We have another Angel to watch over us as we ride and do what he loved to do with the Group. RIP LES till we ride again!!!!!
