She was born on Oct. 14, 1929, in Corozal, Puerto Rico, to Manuel Rivera Hernandez and Maria Luisa Bou de Rivera.
She graduated from Sacred Heart high school in Puerto Rico at age 15 and by 19 from Barry University in Miami.
She then enrolled in graduate school for architecture at the University of Florida. While moving into a dormitory, she met a charming young law student named William Bosso after he accidentally dropped a set of Rosary beads. Her mother grabbed the beads to return them, and a chance encounter turned into divine intervention. They married in December of 1949. The couple welcomed their first child, William Bosso Jr., nine months later, and six more children over the next eight years.
She worked to supplement the GI Bill to help pay for her husband’s tuition, and later as a paralegal at his Riviera Beach law firm, retiring at age 76.
A Devout Catholic, she spent many mornings at St. Clare Catholic Church in North Palm Beach. And, on more than a few others, placing bets at Pai Gow Poker tables in casinos from Biloxi, Miss., to Las Vegas.
She hosted large family Christmas dinners at her home for many years and kept a birthday list above the phone in her kitchen, always making each child, grandchild and great-grandchild feel special by delivering gifts, cakes and thoughtful cards.
She laughed often and didn’t take life too seriously, and her generosity and love for her family knew no bounds.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Bosso; a daughter, Susan Bosso; her parents; her sister, Terese Rivera de Carro; and two grandchildren, Rebecca Bosso and Robert Bosso.
She is survived by her four sons, William Bosso Jr. (Cynthia); M. Robert Bosso (Anne); James Bosso (Elaine); Richard Bosso (Sylvia), two daughters, Luisa K Bosso and Sandra Pardo (Angelo), 13 grandchildren, William Bosso III; Kathryn Landoli (Timothy); Elizabeth Hand (Ben); Michael Linn (Adrienne); John Linn (Alicia); Blaine Tillis (Tierney); Cristina Nilakanta (Sid); Alex Pardo; Carlos Bosso; Paul Bosso; Richard G Bosso; Natalie Bosso and Jacquelyn Bosso; and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, April 12, at St. Clare Catholic Church in North Palm Beach.
