Margaret L Batchelor

Margaret Louise (Peggy Lou) Batchelor, nee Welch, a beloved wife and mother passed away on December 27 after a brief illness. She was 81 and the daughter of Margaret McIssac Welch Howland (deceased) and Maurice Edward Welch (deceased). She was also predeceased by three brothers; Maurice (Ted) Welch, Phillip Howland, and Bruce Howland. Peg had lived in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida since 2012 and attended St. Clare Catholic Church. Born in 1933 in Concord New Hampshire, she was a graduate of St. John Catholic School and was attending Plymouth State Teacher’s College when she met and married her first husband, Gordon (Mike) Foss. They made a home in Moultonborough, New Hampshire where they raised their two sons and three daughters. Peg was very active in politics and social clubs from an early age and an avid gardener, earning a Master Gardener certificate. She also completed the course work for her Associates Degree in Interior Design. She later moved to St. Simons Island, Georgia where she established herself as a successful interior designer and home furnishings retailer. Peg met her current husband, Ernest Batchelor, on St. Simons where they were married in 2002. She is survived by her husband Ernest; sister Norrine Lincoln of Concord, NH, and brothers David (Gail) Howland of Laconia, NH, and Stephen Howland of Kamiah, ID; daughters Pamela (Edward) Kent of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Deborah Butler of Naples, FL, Kimberly (Brian Michaelis) Foss of Newmarket, NH, and sons Douglas (Deborah) Foss of Whiting, VT, and Matthew (Kelly) Foss of Palm Harbor, FL. She also leaves behind to miss her, three step daughters, Suzanne, Stacy and Mary from her marriage to Mark Packard, twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on at 11am on Monday, January 5 at St. Clare Catholic Church, 821 Prosperity Farms Road, North Palm Beach, FL 33408 and interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Concord, NH in the spring. Family requests flowers in memory of Peg’s love of floral arrangements.
