Mark T. Eissey, age 59, passed into Heaven eternal on May 21, 2022. A lifelong resident of Palm Beach County, Mark was born in West Palm Beach on December 19, 1962 to the late Edward and Faye Eissey. He attended both Cardinal Newman High School and The Benjamin School, where he was an outstanding athlete and lettered in three sports. An excellent running back, Mark was First Team All-State for football. But basketball was his favorite sport, and he earned many accolades as a point guard as well. Mark continued his education at Belmont University, where he made the basketball team as a senior and earned an undergraduate degree in Business Management. After college, Mark went on to earn a law degree at NSU Shepard Broad College of Law.
Upon graduation, Mark began a 17-year career as an Assistant State Attorney for Palm Beach County serving as a line prosecutor in a variety of divisions – first appearances, intake, misdemeanor and felony – ultimately becoming a felony division chief. In 2005, Mark became a County Court Judge and proudly served on the bench for the 15th Judicial Circuit for 17 years. The majority of Mark’s judicial career was spent in a Criminal Division and he became known as a “trial machine.” Mark was committed to justly interpreting the law and running an organized docket. He also strived to help mold many of the young attorneys in front of him, doing so with a sense of both firmness and levity.
Mark often brought humor, fun and animated conversation to many gatherings. He was famous for his uncanny memory of sports trivia and movie lines. And whether it was at a pick-up ball game or over lunch, Mark’s contagious laughter could always be heard. A devout Christian, Mark was a man of incredible faith, leading several men’s Bible studies through the years. Mark was well known for his kind and generous heart.
Mark is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 36 years, Wendy Hathaway Eissey. He is also survived by his beloved children, Matthew Eissey and Lauren Eissey. Matt and Lauren were truly his pride and joy. Mark also leaves behind his sister, Lynn Eissey Ciklin, and brother, E. Michael Eissey, Jr. In addition, he is survived by his two nephews, Michael E. Ciklin and E. Michael Eissey III, as well as his aunt, Barbara Eissey Porcher. Mark will be greatly missed by a multitude of extended family members and friends too numerous to mention.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 7, 2022 at The Eissey Campus Theatre at 11051 Campus Dr, Palm Beach Gardens, FL 33410 at 4 p.m. A reception and visitation time with the family will immediately follow the service.
