Mark was born on July 6, 1958 in Cambridge, Ohio. He moved to North Palm Beach, Florida with his parents, George & Helen Finney in 1961, making him a known local. Embracing the South Florida lifestyle, Mark water skied before school, loved to fish, go boating, the beach, the pool, and all things outdoors. He was one of the first elementary school graduates from The Benjamin School, where he met many of his life long friends. He attended HL Watkins Middle School and graduated from North Shore High School. After graduation, Mark attended dental technician school in Arlington, TX, and owned and operated a dental technician business for over 10 years. After selling his business, he followed his father's lead to pursue a career in real estate appraisal, where he spent a successful & respectable career for the remainder of his life. He knew Palm Beach county like the back of his hand.
Mark brought life and laughter everywhere he went and to everyone around him. He was the life of the party and a very funny man, missing his calling on a comedy stage. He had a brilliant sense of humor and perspective; he loved sharing his thoughts with those around him. Mark surrendered to his master alcohol on January 1, 2014 and celebrated 12 years sober prior to his passing - an achievement he was very proud of, as was his family. Mark was very active in Alcoholics Anonymous. He willingly shared his experience, strength, hope, and service at the Oasis Club in Palm Beach Gardens, even leading meetings outside during Covid so his community could get their medicine. He will be sorely missed in his community.
Mark is survived by his loving daughters, his pride & joy, Cait Jane Finney & Alli Elizabeth Finney (Damon Galmin), his granddaughter - and other pride & joy - Ruby Jane Galmin, former wife Diana Wise Finney Brett (Shawn Brett), sister Linda Powell, nephew Steve Powell, niece Kimberly Powell Davis, the entire Wise Family including in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, the entire sober community at the Oasis Club, and a host of life long friends.
We have all gained a guardian angel. We are certain that he was met at the pearly gates by his partner in crime, Will Serraes, and they are up there doing the bear dance and bringing sexy back. It's been a Lovely Cruise.
In lieu of flower we ask that you make a donation the The Oasis Club in Palm Beach Gardens https://www.cluboasisaa.org/donate/
The family wishes to thank everyone for their love and support through this very difficult time. A celebration of life is in the making and will be announced as soon as possible.
