Born January 29, 1957, at St. Mary’s Hospital in West Palm Beach, Florida, Patty was the fifth child in what would become a loving family of nine children. She was baptized at St. Juliana Catholic Church and grew up rooted in her Catholic faith. She attended St. Juliana Catholic School and graduated from Cardinal Newman High School, Class of 1975. She attended Loyola University in New Orleans for two years and later earned her nursing degree from St. Louis University in Missouri.
Patty dedicated her professional life to caring for others as a compassionate nurse at Jupiter Medical Center. She later worked in the medical field at a local law firm until her retirement. Nursing was more than a career — it was a ministry of mercy that reflected her deep Christian compassion.
Patty had a gift that could not be taught: she made people feel at ease the moment they met her. She was endlessly funny, quick with a perfectly timed comment, and known for turning everyday moments into stories that left family and friends laughing for years. She was a natural storyteller who could hold a room captive, whether recounting childhood memories, family adventures, or the humorous mishaps of daily life. Her laughter was contagious, her sense of humor gentle and warm, and the joy she brought to others was one of her greatest gifts.
Her greatest blessing and proudest vocation was motherhood. Patty devoted her life to raising her beloved twin daughters, Breeanna and Christina Navarro. Whether traveling across Florida for softball tournaments, volleyball matches, or cheering from the sidelines, she gave of herself completely and joyfully. Her life was a reflection of Christ’s love — generous, steadfast, and full of grace. She was her daughters’ biggest supporter, constant encourager, and safest place, and her love will remain a guiding light in their lives forever.
Patty was also a lifelong and fiercely loyal fan of the Miami Dolphins. Through every season — the highs, the heartbreaks, and everything in between — she remained devoted and optimistic, always cheering them on with unwavering loyalty. She began the tradition of hosting epic Dolphins game gatherings many years ago, bringing family and friends together to cheer, laugh, and share food and stories. These Sundays became treasured traditions and lasting memories for everyone lucky enough to be part of them.
Above all, Patty was deeply humble. She was a good person who quietly did good things without ever seeking recognition or praise. She lived simply and selflessly, always placing others before herself. Any luxuries in life were reserved for her daughters, whose happiness and wellbeing meant more to her than anything she could have for herself. Her quiet generosity, modest spirit, and unwavering love were hallmarks of the life she lived.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Jose Navarro; her parents, Senator Philip D. Lewis and Maryellen Lewis; her brothers, Kevin C. “KC” Lewis and Mark Lewis; and her sister, Diana Lewis, Esq.
She is survived by her cherished daughters, Breeanna Navarro and Christina Navarro; her sisters, Juliana Lewis, Paulette (Robby Cashman), Suzy (Bill Buckland), and Mary G. Lewis-Mowes (Steve); her brothers, Dan (Elizabeth) Lewis and Neil (Carmen) Lewis; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure her humor, kindness, and the joy she brought into their lives.
