Born in Saint-Jeanne-de-Maurienne, Savoie, France, Michele moved to Canada at the age of 10. In 1967, during the World’s Fair in Montreal, Michele met the love of her life, Giuseppe (Joseph), on a blind date. Instead of returning to Paris for her job at an opera house, Michele and Giuseppe settled into a life of adventure and travel, marrying and moving to the Catskills in 1969. During this time, the couple lived in a small bungalow and worked at Le Moulin making up rooms, cooking food, and serving dinner.
After several more years in Albany, where Stephanie was born, the Scipiones moved to South Florida in search of a warmer climate.
After Giuseppe’s untimely death in 2002, Michele continued her life in North Palm Beach, maintaining her exercise regimen through dog walks and treks to Publix. Along the way, Michele built her independence by receiving her driver’s license and becoming a proud U.S. citizen.
Michele was a dedicated wife and mother. She was well-known around North Palm Beach for leaving a dog bowl outside filled with fresh water, having pockets filled with treats for dogs and peanuts for squirrels, and knowing every dog’s name. She was a woman of simple tastes: strong espresso, good wine, crispy french fries, and a hot slice of pizza.
Michele and Giuseppe are now together again, holding hands and walking along a beautiful beach with all of their dogs.
Michele was predeceased by her husband, Giuseppe Scipione. Her memory will live on through her daughter Stephanie Scipione and Stephanie’s fiancé James. Michele also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. In addition, she will be mourned by the friends, human and canine, she has made during her 47 years in North Palm Beach.
There will be no funeral service. A memorial for friends and family will be held in the future. If you would like to make a donation in Michele’s memory, please consider a monetary or goods donation to your local animal shelter. Mom’s favorites included Big Dog Ranch, 100 Plus Dogs of the Everglades, Furry Friends, and Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control.
