Scott N. Chapman passed away suddenly Sunday, April 12, 2020. He is survived by his wife and companion of over 20 years, Heather A. Chapman. Scott was the father of six children and one step-child. He was the grandfather of 12 grandchildren.
Scott was born in Salt Lake City, Utah but grew up in southern California. His parents, Dale and Donna Chapman, raised Scott to be a generous, kind, and thoughtful person. The values instilled in him impacted many throughout his lifetime. He had two sisters, Debbie and Carolyn, and a brother Brian.
Scott raised his children with the same values he grew up with: to be kind, generous and thoughtful parents. Scott, with his wife Heather by his side, traveled, assisted her with her ventures and enjoyed the company of friends and family.
Scott was the president of his community homeowner’s association and dedicated a great deal of time and energy for his community.
Scott was employed at Avery Dennison for almost 23 years. Within that time, he traveled the world, worked with the government, and mentored many associates, where he was well respected and highly regarded.
But Scott’s passion was for cycling. He rode many benefit fund raising events for MS, cancer and many others. He rode RAGBRI, Tosser and The Hilly 100 just to name a few. When Scott moved to Florida, albeit flat terrain, he adapted his cycling style to bike camping. Two things Scott always loved, camping and cycling. His love for both influenced his nephew and his family to join him on his adventures. The passion he had for this started his next adventure as he was gearing up for cycling “The Great Divide” a 2,800 mile ride from Canada to New Mexico. While he never was able to achieve this amazing accomplishment, he did what so many would aspire to do.
He had an incredible life with his loving wife, raised his children with values, inspired his work partners, and had a passion that continued to engage and challenge him. He impacted so many people by being a father figure, a mentor and a leader within his community and work. His sense of humor and goofy antics were endearing and lovable. His parents were proud of his life accomplishments, and his family will carry on his spirit of living life with love. Scott will be greatly missed but will never be forgotten.
