Steve grew up in the Palm Beach Gardens/Jupiter area as an only child. During his early years he played drums for Yesterday’s Today at Trinity Methodist Church. In his teenage years he developed a passion for working on cars and also enjoyed trail racing dirt bikes with his father. He attended Jupiter High School and after graduating, he worked for his father in the family business, Kauff’s Towing, where he developed a love for business. Following his passion for business, he started his own company Kauff’s Signs in 1989 under the mentorship of his father and went on to expand his business ventures into multiple companies now known as Kauff’s Kompanies. He remained owner and CEO of Kauff’s Kompanies until the time of his passing.
He was closely involved in many local businesses and was a supporter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Even as he grew older, he never lost his love of muscle cars and was well known around town for his loud sports cars. Along with his business and cars he loved spending time with his children, swimming, riding dune buggies and watching movies. One of his greatest joys in recent years was training his son, Kennedy how to manage and run Kauff’s Kompanies in collaboration with his business partners. He also looked forward to attending church with his parents every Sunday, early on they attended Trinity Methodist Church and in more recent years Christ Fellowship.
He is survived by his parents, Wallace Howard and Lorraine Kauff; three children, Kaitlyn, Kassidy and Kennedy; and his ex-wife, Gena Kauff Green (Jeff Green).
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Aycock-Riverside Funeral Home, 1112 Military Trail Jupiter, FL.
