He graduated from Palm Beach High School in 1968 and continued his education at Milwaukee School of Engineering. Steve proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1971-1976. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Steve became a licensed Union 630 plumber. Following in his father’s footsteps, Steve joined Farmer & Irwin Corp., where he later served as President and CEO. Steve enjoyed fishing, hunting and watching the Miami Dolphins like his father, but his greatest passion was creating memories with his beloved family. He was heavily involved in many industry business associations and local trade unions as well as performing acts of service in his community where he made significant contributions.
Steve was predeceased by his father Raymond “Dick” Irwin. He is survived by his loving wife Linda L. Irwin, son Matthew S. Irwin (Melanie), step children Shannon K. Stone, Stephen A. Hicks (Kimberly) and his grandchildren Jordan, Austin, Hannah, Hayden, Warren, Quinn, and Lavinia. Steve is also survived by his mother Patsy M. “Patty” Irwin, siblings Randall L. Irwin (Kathe), Laura L. Mitchell (Emery) and Jeffrey G. Irwin (Christy) along with many nieces and nephews.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers a charitable donation or act of service be made in honor of Steve. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 4, 2022 from 4pm - 7pm at Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral and Event Center, 754 US Highway 1, North Palm Beach.
A celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date.
