

Thomas Edward Magill, 89, passed away peacefully October 30th. He was raised in Teaneck, NJ before moving to Allentown, PA where he graduated from Central Catholic High School. He went on to earn a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1955 from his beloved University of Notre Dame and later an MBA from Lehigh University in 1964. He was married to Mary Lieberman on December 1, 1960 in Allentown, PA. Upon graduation from Notre Dame, he began a long and successful career in the semiconductor/micro electronics industry beginning with the Western Electric Corporation. With an MBA in hand, he and his young family moved to North Palm Beach in 1967. He retired from the industry in 1995, embarking on a new career that embraced his passion for education. He was an Adjunct Professor of Economics at Palm Beach State College, Palm Beach Atlantic University, and William T. Dwyer High School for over 20 years, finally retiring at the age of 86.
Community service was a cornerstone principle for Tom, beginning as President of his high school Key Club and the Junior Chamber of Commerce in Allentown. His love for and service to his alma mater, Notre Dame, was endless. He served on the National Alumni Association Board becoming President in 1993-1994. He was made an honorary member of the ND Monogram Club. Locally, he was a High School Football official from 1972 to 1995, receiving awards from both the National Football Foundation and the Florida High School Athletic Association for his contributions. Serving the community he was proud to call home, the Village of North Palm Beach, he was Vice Chair of the Charter Review Committee in 2002 and a member of the Audit Committee since 2004, ultimately becoming Chairman. He was a regular on the golf course and a proud member of the North Palm Beach Country Club “Sharks”. A devout Catholic, he was parishioner at St. Clare Catholic Church, the parish he joined with his family in 1967.
He is survived by his wife Mary, his brother Jack and his wife Kathleen of Chatham, NJ, his son Jim Magill of Tallahassee, his daughter Diane Trammell and her husband Larry of Lake Mary, FL, his grandchildren Ryan and Erin Trammell, JP, Mary Bradley and Alden Elizabeth Magill.
Visitation for family and friends to share stories of this amazing man who touched so many lives will be Sunday, November 6, 4:00-6:00 pm at Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 754 US Highway 1, North Palm Beach. His funeral mass will be Monday, November 7 at 11:00am at St. Clare Catholic Church, 821 Prosperity Farms Rd, North Palm Beach.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to St. Clare Catholic Church.
