

Tillinghast (Till) Lybass passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2015. He was a long time resident of North Palm Beach and was a native Floridian. He was born on January 24, 1936 in Jacksonville Florida to James Harmon Lybass and Ruby Goethe Lybass.
Till attended Robert E. Lee High School and was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He went on to attend Duke University where he received BS and MD degrees. While attending medical school he was awarded the Roche Award for graduating top of his class and was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He took further pediatric training at Harvard Medical, Boston’s Children’s Hospital. He did his allergy fellowship at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, National Jewish Hospital in Denver and he became certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and sub Board of Pediatric Allergy. He also practiced pediatrics in the US Army at Fort Ord, California for 2 years.
Dr. Lybass then joined the Palm Beach Medical Group in 1968, where he specialized in pediatric allergy. Subsequently he started a solo practice in West Palm Beach. He was a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. He was on the staffs of Good Samaritan, Saint Mary’s and Palm Beach Gardens Hospitals. He was a member of the Palm Beach Medical Society and served on the board of the American Lung Association of Florida. Upon his retirement from medical practice in 1995 he became a tree farmer with forests in Marion and Levy County Florida.
Till met his wife Kathleen while at Duke University and they were blessed with 3 children.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen; his children Sharon Padilla and her husband Allen, and David Lybass and his wife Christy; his grandchildren Kevin Lybass and his wife Kristina, Michael Lybass, Renee Padilla, and Elizabeth Lybass; his great grandchildren Addison and Charlotte Lybass; his brother James Lybass, and his wife Joh-Nana; and sister Oregon Lybass. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruby; his daughter Carolyn; and his brother Thomas.
Till’s hobbies were fishing, travel and model train collecting. If God has a place in heaven for a train set, we know he has one.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 15 from 10:00am – 12:00pm at Howard-Quattlebaum Funeral, Cremation and Event Center, 754 U.S. Highway 1, North Palm Beach, FL 33408. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the University of Florida School of Forestry or Duke University School of Medicine.
