Andy, beloved husband, father, and grandfather leaves a heartbroken family who will miss his laughter, cheeky sense of humour and a lifetime of support and devotion to his family.
He leaves behind Mary, his wife and devoted partner of almost 70 years. Andy and Mary met at a Glasgow dance when she was sixteen and he was twenty-one. Andy told Mary to “dump” her boyfriend , which she did, and they married three years later in 1958. Throughout their marriage they provided an amazing role model of equal partnership and unwavering pride and support for their daughters, Karin, and Michelle.
In 1974 the couple left Scotland seeking a better life for their family in Canada. They arrived in a new country with no support but showed grit and determination in building a happy new life in North Vancouver. Andy spent over twenty-five years as a North Vancouver bus driver and was proud of his zero-accident record over those twenty-five years.
Andy was incredibly proud of his daughters and his five grandchildren. Alix, Taylor, and Hayley Leighton (Sydney, Australia) and Sam and Declan Morgan ( Squamish). He was a cheeky and welcoming father-in-law to Andrew ( Leighton ) and Duncan ( Morgan). We are eternally grateful we scored the gift of Andy as our father. He brought joy to our lives and those he touched with a gentle soul and wicked sense of humour.
Andy you were born the last of five boys to a single mother in the poorest part of Glasgow. You surmounted and thrived with kindness, wit , intelligence and a song in your heart. Dad, you nailed it ! Until the Twelfth of Never you will be missed and eternally loved.
