Mom was born Oct 14, 1924 in Vested Denmark. She grew up in rural Denmark and loved the outdoors having a passion for horses and riding horses bareback in the hills. Mom moved briefly to London England in 1947 where she was married and her daughter Connie was born in 1948. Mom moved back to Denmark in 1950 after divorce and was remarried to Ernst In 1951. Leif was born in 1951.
Mom was a wanderer at heart and convinced Ernst that the family should immigrate to Canada in 1958. So off we went for an adventure and a new life in West Vancouver. Mom had a house cleaning business for many years before securing a position at Inglewood hospital as a caregiver shortly after Ernst passed away. Mom worked there for 24 years and was loved by many residents and fellow workers and retired at 71 years of age.
Mom will be greatly missed by all her loved ones. She was an inspiration to many and passed on a strong work ethic. She was also the glue that held together much of her immediate family. Mom went by many names. Mormor (Mother’s Mother) Farmor (Father’s Mother), Tinne (nick name) and of course Mor (Mother). Mom loved to spend time with her grandchildren and would frequent the many casinos around town and the bingo halls with them.
Mom loved to travel. She would spend up to 3 months every year in Denmark with family and friends until her Sister Marga passed away. The two of them would travel to the four corners of the European continent together. Mom would visit with us many times over the years in Kihei Maui. Mom also went on numerous cruise ships with her grandchildren from the Caribbean to the glaciers of Alaska. Most recently she spent time in 70 Mile house with her grandchildren this past August. In September she spent a week at our family reunion at our lake house and got to go out on the lake in the peddle boat. Mom always appreciated the good life that she had and would always mention that over a simple cup of coffee.
Mom lived an independent life and lived on her own in her condo until she was hospitalized. A testament to her independence and strength.
A Celebration of Anna's Life will take place on Sunday January 19th at 2:00 p.m. in the Boal Chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services. The address is: 1505 Lillooet Road North Vancouver BC V7J 2J1.
