In the early morning hours two days before Christmas, Audrey died peacefully after battling cancer this past year. She was 78.
Audrey was born in 1946 in the east-end of Montreal. Learning French as a child in the midst of a French Canadian community, she would go on to a career as a French teacher, first in Montreal (at Regina Caeli and Saint John Fisher schools) and later in Aurora (Aurora Heights Public School and Lester B. Pearson) and North York (Willowdale Middle School and Cummer Valley Middle School). Audrey loved music, and also directed her school’s choirs and even a recorder band.
Audrey married the love of her life, Dave in 1972 in Montreal. Together they raised their daughter, Mandy, first in Montreal and later in Toronto. They would eventually settle in North Vancouver to be close to their granddaughters.
Teaching came naturally to Audrey and she loved her students. From trips to Ranch Massawippi in Granby, Quebec to entering her choirs in the Kiwanis music festival, Audrey was always enriching the lives of her students.
Her greatest joy came later in life with the birth of her two granddaughters, Abby and Emma. She doted on them like no other and took so much pride in their growth and accomplishments.
Audrey has left us too soon and will be missed by so many. She is survived by her husband, Dave, her daughter, Mandy (James) and her granddaughters, Abby and Emma. Predeceased by her sister, Carol, she leaves behind her siblings Maureen (Ezio), Greg (Leslie), Kathy, Margaret (John) and Christine, as well as her many nieces and nephews and their children.
A service will be held on January 6th at 2PM at Boal Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver, followed by interment and reception.
While Audrey loved flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, BC Cancer Foundation, or another cancer charity of choice.
