It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Cheryl Davis on March 7 at the age of 76, her loving husband Lyle by her side.
Cheryl was the oldest of five children and very close to her mom. As a girl, she tried her best to help her mom taking care of her siblings when her father left the country shortly after the birth of the youngest (triplets).
She talked fondly of her years with her best friend Ilona and truly thought of Ilona as a sister. Together they had so much fun and travelled to California, creating some of the best memories that she treasured throughout her life.
Shortly after, Cheryl met Lyle. They married and had three children, Heidi, Craig and Mark. Mark died tragically at 27. Heidi married Marke Vukic. Cheryl was enamored with her two granddaughters, Ava and Khloe. Family was everything to Cheryl and she gave endlessly.
Cheryl always put others before herself and was generous in time and resources. She volunteered at the elementary school, community centre, ice rink and other areas where her children spent time. She worked at the community centre concession stand and later became the owner. There, she created a warm community of employees, while volunteering her time with the Killarney Park association.
She was never afraid to speak her mind, and she stood on her words. She was strong and it was always with love. She loved Mayne island and spent a lot of time at the cabin which was both her paradise and getaway. She helped there where she could for the conservation of the island.
The past two years while having her own struggles she housed a young girl who was new to Canada and gave her a free start which continues in a positive direction.
Nothing can replace such an incredible mom and person, and she is sorely missed.
