Christopher William McBride

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Christopher William McBride on December 30th, 2024, in the comfort of his home. Born on July 14th, 1950, Chris lived a life of dedication and community connection.

For 30 years, Chris served the North Vancouver District Fire Department, where he retired as Captain in 2001. His courage, leadership and commitment to his community left a lasting mark on all who knew him.

Affectionately known as “Buddy Boy” to those closest to him, Chris had a zest for life that extended beyond his profession. He found joy in cooking & had a passion for barbecuing, bringing loved ones together around countless tables at fire department and family functions, fundraisers, fishing derbies and retirement parties.

His love for music and his talent for forging lifelong friendships bridged borders, bringing together a community that spanned from Vancouver, British Columbia to his favourite place in Birch Bay, Washington -where life long memories have been made with his many friends and his family.

Chris is survived by and lovingly remembered by his family: his sister Diane (Warren) and his brother Dan (Kathleen) and his 3 children, Tracy (Dan), Clint (Jocelyn) & Jamie.

Papa, with his easy-going attitude and his contagious laughter, will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Tristin, Tanner, Teagan, Owen, Camryn & Charlie.

A celebration of life will be held at the Lynn Valley Legion at 4:00pm on March 1st, 2025.
