It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Clay Budd on his own terms and surrounded by his family.
Clay was born in Winnipeg and spent his very happy childhood and teen years in Holland, Manitoba. He moved to Winnipeg where he worked for the Grain Exchange and then for the London Life Insurance Company where he excelled as an agent, Branch Manager and Regional Manager in Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon and Vancouver. He then owned several general insurance agencies and was a successful sales person for a fireplace company, working until he was 90 years of age.
He married his first wife Dolores in 1951 and they had four children. He married his second wife Florence in 1972 and they spent many years boating in Canadian and U.S. waters. They then purchased an RV and spent 25 winters in Palm Springs where they made many friends.
Clay was a very happy, optimistic, positive-thinking person with many close friends. He often said how fortunate he was to live in the best City, Province and Country in the world. He lived life with confidence and faced his death without fear.
He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Dolores and his son John. He leaves to mourn his wife Florence and his children Janet Basford (Andrew), David Budd (Calla), Karen Szakaly (George) and Katherine Sandrin (Larry) as well as his many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and his sister Iris Callis and her family.
Clay will be remembered as a happy, loving person who drew people to him. He enjoyed golf and bridge with friends but his greatest pleasure was being with his family, of which he was very proud.
A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.
