If anyone ever cared, really cared for someone else it would have to be Dominic Scarfo. He was a warm hearted and well liked individual and these wonderful traits came easily to him because he was such a sociable person.
Dominic was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. He was the son of Carmelo and Maria Antonio Filomena. Dom was raised on Commercial Drive with four siblings, Rosemary, Betty, Joe and Jerry.
Dom left school early to go to work as did most of his friends at the time.
Dominic met his future wife Bernice, while working his first job at Bartrams Paper Company. On April 25, 1953 Dom married Bernice Evelyn Trimble at a Chapel on Night Street in Vancouver, B.C.
Family was important to Dom as well as the pets he had throughout his life. Dominic was blessed with three daughters, Cindy(Neil), Kathy(Dean) and Karen(Gary). He was also very proud of his six grandchildren, Corey, Michael, Kyle, Lisa, Cody and Sara.
Taking his work seriously came naturally to Dominic, and he expected the same from those around him. Dominic was a steady worker. His primary occupation was with Smith Davidson and Lecky Paper. Dom also worked many a night as a car salesman. He brought harmony to his work environment, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done, while always maintaining respect for his colleagues. There was one thing all of Dominic's friends knew and will still remember and that is that he was a smooooooth talker.
Dominic did what made him happy and always put a smile on peoples faces, which most remember him for as well as his always whistling when he came your way.
Dom had a way of making everyone laugh with his great sense of humour. His favorite things to do were socializing, crosswords, reading gossip magazines and watching golden oldie movies. He could pretty much talk to anybody about anything. Dominic lived his life the way he chose. When Dom made friends, he made true and lasting friendships. In the later years he enjoyed riding his scooter to McDonald's to chat, drink coffee and read the paper as well as checking out the dollar store. He also enjoyed sitting in the foyer of his condo watching and socializing with people coming and going. His favorite phrase was "What's happening".
Dominic was practical and sensible, but what family and friends will remember him most for is the fact he was so understanding and kind and just a down to earth people person.
Everyone whose life he touched will surely miss him.
