

Born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan to Alexander and Lena, Fred was the youngest of 7 children raised on the farm. As a teenager, Fred loved baseball and was scouted for the big leagues, even playing against Gordie Howe and the Saskatchewan 55's. He joined the RCMP and served in Revelstoke, Kelowna, Armstrong (NCO in charge) , Langley and Squamish (NCO in charge), retiring as a Staff Sgt. in 1990 (?) in North Vancouver, B. C..
Fred was married to Roberta in 1962, raised 3 kids and transferred around the Province of BC with the RCMP, settling the family in Squamish in 1977.
He was instrumental in the building of Babe Ruth baseball fields in Armstrong and in Squamish and stayed involved in the game as an umpire for many years. He was an avid curler, playing for mens and mixed leagues, and in the RCMP championships . In Squamish, Fred served as Rotary Club and Squamish Loggers Sports president and played a key role in the planning and building of the Hendrickson Loggers Sports Grounds.
He received a St. John’s Ambulance award of bravery for saving the life of a young girl from a burning home in Armstrong, B. C.
Fred was happy in retirement, and with his partner Iris enjoyed golfing, curling and travelling to warm destinations, spending many winters in Palm Desert. He was very generous with his kids and grandkids.
He is predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Lena, brothers Dan, Michael and Bill, and sister Nell. He is also predeceased by sweet Orrisha (Iris), his loving partner of 18 years. Deeply missed by his sisters, Ann and Mary, daughters Lauren (Dean) and Cori-Ellen (Harry) and son Preston, grandchildren Haley, Evan and Logan, Olivia and Stryker. Great grandchildren Sawyer, Linden and Rowyn.
No service at this time. Ashes to be in interred in the RCMP Columbarium in Regina, SK when the wind blows warm on the prairie. Heartfelt thank yous for the kind and compassionate care received in Squamish and Lions Gate Hospitals and from his Shannon Falls Family.
