It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Gabrielle Anne Marie Lancaster, on June 14, 2024, at the age of 81 years.
Born on May 19, 1943, Gabe grew up in Winnipeg and pursued a business office career. She met the love of her life, Gord, at the Winnipeg office of Deloitte, and they were happily married for 56 years.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend; her kindness and love touched everyone around her. She had a warm smile that radiated love and compassion.
Gabe loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals, especially for the family’s Christmas and holiday gatherings. Gabe took up tennis when the family moved to Vancouver and developed a true passion for the sport. Twice a week tennis matches with her new playing partners at Hollyburn Country Club were an important part of her life. Gabe didn’t join a sorority when she attended St. Mary’s Academy in Winnipeg, but she made up for it later in life when she joined a couple of Red Hats Society groups, where she loved meeting a whole new group of friends.
Multiple trips to Europe, whether touring a country by car or ocean cruising, were a favourite activity for both Gabe and Gord. Hawaii, Mexico and Palm Springs were her best loved winter destinations. She also found the time to volunteer in the community with Meals on Wheels, the Surgical Services Care Unit at Lions Gate Hospital and North Shore Emergency Management. Her kindness and compassion will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Gabe is survived by her husband, Gord; her children Tracy (Chris) and Krista (Andrew); her grandchildren Hannah, Samantha and Cameron; and her siblings Claude, Rachelle (Larry), Yvonne (Jacques) and Marc (Esther), and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her mother, Marie-Paule Monette, father, Armand Monette and sister, Michèle Feigel.
The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses at the North Shore Hospice for supporting them, and their loving care for Gabe in her last days.
The funeral service will be held on July 5 at Boal Chapel in North Vancouver at 2 p.m. For those out of town, you may view a livestream of the service at the website www.funeraweb.ca or using the following link:

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
Gabe will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Rest in peace, our dear wife, mother and grandmother.
