Helen Marie Hunter passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025, in North Vancouver, BC, at the age of 73. She was born on October 16, 1951, in Ladysmith, BC.
Helen lived life with love, laughter, and adventure. A passionate gardener, she took great joy in sharing her garden with family, friends, and her beloved German Shepherd, London. Her love of travel took her from the rolling hills of Ireland and the charm of Europe to the breathtaking landscapes of New Zealand and the bright lights of Las Vegas.
She was happiest when camping at Dionisio Point Park on Galiano Island with family and friends. From playing on the beaches as a child to cooking around the campsite and as the long-time “Park Host,” Helen always found joy in the outdoors.
An avid reader and fan of her favorite TV shows, Helen was also an amazing cook and baker, known for hosting memorable Sunday dinners and game nights that brought loved ones together.
Helen dedicated 25 years to her career at Telus and was a proud lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She was deeply committed to charity, her community, and the environment.
Helen is lovingly remembered by her partner of over 40 years, Frank Donnelly; her sister, Sharon Smith; and her brother, Danny Hunter. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Clara Ellen Hunter (née Gray), and her brothers, Robbie and Brian, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who loved her.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring of 2026 to honour Helen’s memory and share the stories she left behind. Details will be shared online in the new year.
