Jane Megale-Sidjak

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jane Megale-Sidjak on December 10th, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. Jane is survived by her kids James, Kevin, and Kati; her granddaughter Maxine; her mother Doreen; her brothers Rob and Dave; and her beloved pup Spritz, who are blessed to have been loved so hard by such an amazing woman. Her family finds some peace in the knowledge that Jane is free from pain and with her brother Gord, father Bill, and grandmother Loveny.

Jane was brimming with kindness and warmth, creativity and style, and immense strength that she graciously shared with everyone she encountered. In this spirit, Jane always worked in care and service of others; she started her career as a special education teacher in Calgary, then raised her kids in North Vancouver before serving as a pastor at West Vancouver Baptist Church for 17 years. Jane had a way of making those around her feel at ease and was always ready and willing to listen and offer her wisdom when they felt compelled to share.

Along with being an amazing mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, teacher, pastor, maker, and caregiver, Jane was one heck of a hostess! Whether it be a dinner party, craft sale, maker space, or other gathering in her home, she would make you feel welcome, nourished, and entertained. Jane saw beauty in everything and she crafted, created, collected, and curated treasures to bring joy to her home, wardrobe, family, and friends. Jane’s bright, funky, and generous spirit will be dearly missed and will live on as we care for those we love, welcome guests into our homes, and express our truest selves.

Jane’s Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at West Vancouver Baptist Church
