Jeff Polkinghorne, affectionately known as “Red” or “Polky”, passed away unexpectedly in Vancouver on September 27, 2017 as a result of a heart atack at the age of 47.
Jeff made a career out of his ability to connect with and inspire people. Colleagues and hotel guests at the Sylvia and Waterfront hotels were drawn to Jeff’s joyful energy and remembered him long after he left the industry. His career path in recruitment allowed him to exercise his natural talent for developing people. He drew out our strengths even while recognizing our weaknesses and empowered us to excel. Jeff’s most recent role as CEO of MyJobTank Holdings was his dream come true.
Jeff was a golf enthusiast and all-around sports fan. He brought joy and energy to every room he entered and lived his life with great passion. Both generous in deed and in spirit, he gave 100% of himself to others without reservation.
Jeff will lovingly be remembered by his mother, Michelle “Mickey” Polkinghorne, his wife of 18 years, Espie, his sons, Noah and Liam Polkinghorne, his brother, Bradley (Brenda) Polkinghorne and sisters, Sherri (Leonard) Houle and Heather Polkinghorne. Jeff will also be forever remembered by his nephews, nieces, extended family and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his father, Richard “Dick” Polkinghorne.
A Celebration of Jeff’s life will be held on Saturday, October 7th at First Memorial Boal Chapel at 1505 Lillooet Rd., North Vancouver at 10:30AM. A reception will follow at Immaculate Conception Parish Hall at 8842 119th St., Delta at 12:30PM.
