February 11, 1936-January 30, 2021
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John Collins on January 30, 2021, after a short illness.
Predeceased by his brother Chris and his sister Betty, John was born in London, England and moved to the West of England where he grew up. He also spent time living in Australia with his family and moved to Vancouver in his early 20’s where he met his wife.
A retired mechanic, who could repair everything and build anything, his hobbies were photography, art, and a passion for sailing. He spent many weekends travelling to Victoria to race sailboats and then enjoyed his own boat in Vancouver for many years.
John loved travelling and visited many countries with his wife over the years – taking their own time to explore the roads not often taken.
John’s greatest love was for his family and he is survived by his wife of 62 years Pauline and his daughter Pia as well as his sister Sylvia (Brian), and nieces Mandy, Tracy and Rachel and nephew Nic.
John was a gentle man who will be remembered for his loving nature, kindness, and sense of humour. He will be sadly missed by his wife and daughter, his family, and the many friends who he also considered family.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date and donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Kids Help Phone and the Vancouver Sun Children’s fund.
