Josephine Rose Congdon

Jo" passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on the Palliative Care Unit at Lions Gate Hospital, with her loving husband David beside her. She is also survived by her loving daughter Kathleen, David's uncle, Spencer, and many nieces and nephews from both sides of the family.

Jo was born in Ghost Pine Creek, Alberta to Joseph and Mary Kubinec, a farming family. She was the last surviving member of nine siblings. Jo worked in Calgary as an Executive Secretary in the oil industry for many years. She met David, and after marrying in 1959 they moved to Australia. Six months later they returned to Canada and made their home in North Vancouver for almost 60 years.

Jo was intelligent, loving, sweet and kind. Her warmth and interest in everyone always led to an easy conversation, which she treasured. She was a dedicated mother, a caring friend, an avid reader, she loved to cook, entertain, and play bridge. She and David travelled, danced, and had wonderful experiences together. Jo was a long time active member of the CWL, holding many offices, one being diocesan President.

Her funeral mass will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Friday June 1, 2018 at 11:00 am
