Kathryn Helen Worth was born in Victoria on March 1, 1949 to Ernie and Edna Worth. Kathy was the first of six children in the Worth family. As the first child (with the golden hair), she enjoyed a happy childhood growing up in Victoria and attending St Ann's Academy from grade one thru 12, graduating in June of 1967. She earned a scholarship in languages and continued her studies at U.V.I.C.
Kathy entered the working world during high school and after graduation she began working for Canada Safeway. She clicked with the people and the clientele, starting a career that would span 44 years with the Safeway name on her uniform! Starting with her first store at the "Disco" Safeway on Quadra and Hillside in Victoria, Kathy quickly found that the constant stream of customers afforded her the opportunity to chat and talk with new people while she was working. For her, this was a lottery win.
Kathy found her calling, and the hook was in. She worked at three Safeway stores throughout the years, but she thoroughly enjoyed the Lonsdale Safeway in North Vancouver, from which she retired in May of 2013. Many customers turned into good friends under Kathy's engaging banter at the checkout while she wielded blazing fingers as one of the more gifted "touch checkers" Safeway could ever lay claim to.
One of Kathy's passions was travel. Boy, did she travel. She enjoyed her trips to Mexico, Phoenix, San Diego, and cruises with her sister Mary. She had regular shopping trips to the U.S. (only when the dollar was good of course!) If the destination was hot, she would find a deal and be gone! Kathy was always a sun seeker and was the typical poster child for the Coppertone ads.
Family life was important for Kathy and she rarely missed a Christmas or Easter celebration. She had a big heart and a bigger laugh. Always gregarious, Kathy had infectious energy and she added that to any social activity. Family gatherings were always louder and filled with laughter when she was present.
Kathy married Daryl Seifert in June of 2010. Sadly, Daryl died Feb 15, 2017. When he died, a big part of Kathy went with him. She was truly heartbroken. We know that she is with him again on another trip together.
Kathy was also predeceased by her Dad in '94, her Mom in '78, her sister Theresa Barron in '86 and her nephew Travis Worth in 2014. She leaves behind her nephews Chris Barron (Lindsey), Jonah Edwards (Rachael), Jordan Worth (Vincci), and Ryan & Josh Adkins, Godmother Helen Campbell and siblings Kevin Worth (Kathy) and Ken Worth (Janet Ego), Mary-Ellen Purdy (Bert Vendergugten) and Jackie Adkins (Tom).
Kathy enjoyed great relationships with all of her many friends over the years. She enjoyed her life and lived it well.
Arrangements under the direction of First Memorial Funeral Services, North Vancouver, BC.
