BC Canada aged 86.
He leaves his wife of 64years, Beryl (Todd) Cole; son, Kevin Cole (Laurie), daughter, Denise Buchart
(Jerry); 3 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and many friends from England, and North America.
Born and raised on the Old Kent Road in London England, he was the son of Charles and Mabel
(Hodges) Cole. After serving in the RAF in the Middle East, he returned to London and joined the
Post Office, where he had a long career, delivering first telegrams and then parcels around London.
There was not a square inch of the City he didn’t know, including where the celebrities all lived! After
retiring in 1992 he and Beryl moved to Canada, and spent the rest of his life in Lynn Valley North
Vancouver BC.
He will be fondly remembered as the extraordinary team manager for numerous North Van Minor
Hockey teams. Many hours, days, and years, were spent sipping warm coffee in cold arenas across the
lower mainland. He was always there for “his boys” with a warm smile and his quick Bitish wit. He
was made a life long member of NVMH Association in appreciation.
His children, remember and thank him for the sacrifices he made to ensure they had the best he could
provide. He was their protector and their champion, waiting up each night until they were safely home.
They know he will continue to watch out for them.
He was a CB radio enthusiast, a car rally driver (with his navigator John Barnell) in the Trinity Motor
Club, a computer whizz, and a photographer. These were the passions that fueled his life and which
contributed to a very eclectic group of friends. He left a treasure trove of family photo's, in which he
rarely featured. His love of travel took him all over the world, including crossing the USA on a
Greyhound bus.
But nothing surpassed his love for his wife and family, who will always remember him as the devoted
husband and father he was. They extend much gratitude to his carers at the Lynn Valley Manor who
ensured his comfort during his last years at home.
A Memorial was held at his North Vancouver home, with a private burial.
Arrangements under the direction of First Memorial Funeral Services, North Vancouver, BC.
