May 18, 1922 Jansen, Sask. to July 16, 2015 North Vancouver
Kurt will be lovingly remembered by Bea, his wife of 65.5 years; his cherished daughters Heathir Naesgaard & Dawn (Ron) McFee; grandchildren Ingrid (Ben) Goodier, Kristen (Mark) Skeans, Kurt McFee; great grandsons Henry, William, & Callum; & beloved relatives. He is predeceased by his brothers, Ernie and Norm & sister-in-law, Thelma.
Kurt was born & raised on the Jansen homestead in Saskatchewan. In 1942 he enlisted in the RCAF, trained in radar mechanics & posted to Marble Is. (BC). Discharged in 1945, Kurt studied & graduated in Civil Engineering (U of Sask; 1950) & obtained his Prof. Engineer (PEng).
Kurt leaves us a legacy of professional, community and family commitment. As a PEng, he worked for the PFRA on Saint Mary’s River Dam & Dev (AB) & the Gardiner Dam (Sask). In 1964, the family moved to Vancouver where Kurt worked for BC Hydro on the Revelstoke & Mica dams until 1984.
Along the way Kurt made many enduring friendships thru work & curling. During his retirement he could be found curling, in Highlands Chancel choir, at the Deep Thinkers coffee group, organizing various functions, as a volunteer tax preparer, at Delany’s for coffee or chatting with his neighbors. Dad relished his grand- & great-grand-children’s events, graduations & many family gathering at which he shared his profound love of nature, music & education. His motto was “Life is a process” & Dad you lived your life with excellence.
