After a short illness with Metastatic Pancreatic Cancer, on July 30th 2024, Larrie Cook took his final breath via M.A.I.D. at 4:01 P.M.
For a man who lived life to the fullest, simply surviving was insufficient. Larrie faced his final days with grace, courage and resilience, with the loving care and support of his partner and wife, Heather.
Larrie was an accepting, gentle soul and a consummate gentleman who emanated a calming spirit with his endlessly kind heart, warm smile and sense of humour. Larrie was quietly and confidently talented in many areas in life, his photography is one pastime that stands out.
Larrie lived a good, full life with his focus on family, travel, friendships, sports, music, belonging to Book Club for over 27 years, LOOPERS, and hiking on a weekly basis with his buddies, Darwin and Derek.
Larrie was a gifted carpenter, a hard worker, always willing to help others with their projects and he always gave great advice.
Larrie was born to Jean and Leonard in Vancouver on July 15th, 1947. When he was 12, Larrie went to live with his Aunt Joyce and Uncle Ken in Trail, B.C.
Larrie went to J.Lloyd Crowe Secondary where he was into Gymnastics, Curling and Baseball. He graduated from Simon Fraser University with a B.A.
For several years Larrie did many diverse jobs. After marrying, he moved to Nelson where he started working in construction, including building Geodesic Domes which he became passionate about. Larrie met many lifelong friends there, Darwin, in particular and B.J. After divorcing, he met Brenda and her son, Matthew and they moved to Vernon. As circumstances unfolded Larrie moved back to the coast to work for Air Canada where he met Suzanne through Aikido, and married her. After many happy and colourful years together, Suzanne passed away and time went by. After meeting each other on a yoga tour in Peru, Larrie married Heather six years later - he was her rock. Larrie will be forever missed and was so loved by many.
Larrie was predeceased by his Father, Leonard, and Mother, Jean Cook (nee Butterfield), Ken and Kenny Cook Jr.
Larrie is survived by his wife, Heather, Aunt Joyce, his Mother-in-Law MaryJane Ramsay, Bev (Nick), Wendy, Sandra (Barry), Diane (Greg), Linda (Jeff), Michelle (Jonathan), Laura, Carlee (Kirby), Caitlin (Hayden), Brett, Alicia (Steve), Taylor, Brittany (Scott), Alexandra, Stepson Matthew (Charmaine), Step grandsons Douglas and Lawrence and numerous great nieces and nephews.
