A truly wonderful person, Margaret Eleanor Young (nee Weir) was born 12 August 1924 in Abbotsford BC and passed peacefully on 3 February 2026 in her West Vancouver home.
She walked hand in hand for 54 years beside her husband Alistair, until his death in 2002.
Marg was extremely proud of her four children; Jennifer, John, Alan and Brenda and much appreciated their good sense in choosing wonderful life partners; Brian, Brenda, Daryl and Neil.
She found great joy watching her 10 grandchildren flourish in their lives, and delighted in her six great grandchildren including the birth of her seventh just before her passing. Always fully engaged with life, Nanny was a model of how to age gracefully.
Mom’s creative pursuits were many. She was an excellent weaver, seamstress and gardener. She proudly called herself a “homemaker” and excelled at providing a welcoming home for us all. Many years biking Stanley Park and her bridge club were highlights yielding enduring friendships. She was an avid library supporter, CBC listener and grateful Canadian.
We all were warmed and supported by her unceasing love.
She will be greatly missed.
