Marjorie Gordon Joughin (Mardi) was born the third child of Rev. Gordon and Gwendolyn Powell, in Melbourne. Australia, on October 17, 1942, and passed away in North Vancouver on September 8, 2025. She grew up in Melbourne and, following high school, enrolled in maternity nursing.
Following her sense of adventure, she travelled to Vancouver by ship and on that voyage met her
husband-to-be, Stanley. They married in 1968 and lived in Ladner before settling in North Vancouver for the last 50 years. She shared her love of and training in music as an active member of her church choir and in vocal groups, Pandora’s Vox and Espiritu. She had a flair for comedy, which was often incorporated into her performances with Pandora’s Vox. She pursued her nursing career as well, where her kind and loving nature endeared her to the patients in her care. She particularly related to and was adored by seniors. She enjoyed golf, tennis, skiing, crossword puzzles, and her involvement with the Mt. Seymour United Church and its Thrift Shop.
Mardi will be deeply missed, and always lovingly remembered, by her family - her husband of 57 years, Stan; their children, Ross and Catherine; granddaughters Odessa, Angelina and Braya; as well as siblings David and Jenny in Australia. She was predeceased by her sister Rosemary.
Above all, she will always be remembered for her positive spirit and generosity!
